jammu, Jan 22: Over dozen of Irrigation Divisions of the Irrigation and Flood Control Department have allegedly diverted funds of Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme in violation of guidelines.
Sources told Early Times that the release of funds under various schemes was subject to the condition that funds should be utilized for the approved components/ works and no deviation shall be made.
"It was observed that around 13 divisions including Flood Control Division Akhnoor, Irrigation Division Kathua, ID Akhnoor, I&FCD Nowshera, I&FCD Kupwara, I&FCD Handwara, I&FCD Baramulla, I&FCD Sopore, ID Budgam, Hydraulic Circle, Uri, Ferozpur Basin Irrigation Division Tangmarg, ID Anantnag, FCD Anantnag, spent funds to the tune of crores on hire charges, payment of wages, purchase of POL etc," they said.
They further said that the funds generally were diverted and spent by the divisions in case of non-availability of funds, which violate the guidelines of various schemes. As per sources it has been observed that same practice is also followed by the other divisions to meet out the expenditure, which they claimed that is not given them in separate grants on account of wages, fuel etc.
