EARLY TIMES REPORT
jammu, Jan 23: On one hand the signals from Pakistan's radio stations as well as telecom companies are available to border villagers along the International border in Suchetgarh and Abdullian but the signals from Indian telecom companies are unavailable, depriving them of the benefits of communication revolution.
The detection of two tunnels along International Border in the last fortnight by the Border Security Force (BSF) has exposed the nefarious designs of Pakistan to infiltrate militants to Jammu and Kashmir but at the same time the air signals from Pakistan radio stations are still audible in several villages along the border while the telecom signals from Pakistan's companies are also detected.
"In village Abdullian, mobile signals of all telecom companies are unavailable. At some specific locations, mobile signals of BSNL are available but that too is not clear", a local of Abdullian village, edged along Indo-Pak international border said.
Sarpanch of the village Bachan Lal said that Pakistan's telecom companies radio signals are available in their villages. "On our mobile phones, frequently the time gets changed as whenever the internet catches signals from Pakistan's towers, as the time of Pakistan is half an hour late", Lal said, adding that they have been facing a lot of problems, due to unavailability of telecom signals of the companies.
He further said that they have so far taken the matter with several respective quarters including Divisional Commissioner Jammu as well as former Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu to instruct telecom operators to extend signals in the border villages but so far all in vain.
"We had given a written submission to Divisional Commissioner with signatures from two Panchayats including Abdullian and Suchetgarh for mobile signals but so far nothing has been done", another villager said, adding that people across Union Territory have been demanding restoration of 4G services but border villagers have been only demanding extension of mobile phone signals. The villagers also said that even the radio signals from Pakistan's radio stations are also audible in their villages at local FM frequency.
