Marwah is expected to get mobile connectivity by June-July 2021: JK Govt tells HC

JAMMU, Feb 3: The far flung and inaccessible areas of Marwah in Kishtwar District which is presently without any connectivity and people of the area having population of around 35000 is expected to get the mobile connectivity by June-July 2021.
As per the details available with Early Times, the government of Jammu and Kashmir in response to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filled by political and social activist from Marwah Ghulam Rasool Magrey through Advocate Faheem Shokat Butt told the Jammu and Kashmir High Court that the area has no mobile and Internet connectivity, introduction of mobile connectivity and internet in the area will be very useful and become vital for bringing effectiveness and efficiency in facilitating various official transactions, reporting by the officers added that it assumes greater relevance, when majority of the services and development programmes are effectuated and run through the mode of internet.
The government through Divisional Commissioner Jammu further told the court that good connectivity will be further beneficial for enforcing discipline and punctuality among officers and officials.
"However, reportedly Reliance Jio is in the process of lying the fibre and erecting of towers for extending mobile and internet connectivity in the area, this work is afoot and expected to be completed by June/July 2021" Divisional Commissioner Jammu inform the court through his written submission.
The government further elaborated that different officers/officials posted at Sub Divisional/Tehsil level in view of the requirement of utilising IT enabled services for the beneficiary oriented schemes, development schemes/programmes, for reporting their progress and for seeking direction from higher up beside online feeding of data of various schemes had to be done from District Headquarter.
Speaking to Early Times, senior officials inform that the administration has also taken up the task to make the V-Set functional Panchayat level in Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan once the roads covered with snowfall opens in April/May added that with the installation of these V-Sets which are already in possession of the administration, the issue related to the internet in the area will get addressed and the officials/officers posted in the area would not have been required to rush to District Headquarter Kishtwar for any internet related work.
The official further added that every effort is being made to provide better services to the people of this far flung area so that the area prospers like any other part of the country.
