Awareness programme on skill development held

JAMMU, Feb 10: Government College of Education, Jammu organized an online awareness program on, skill Development Schemes in UT of J&K.
The programme was organized in collaboration with District Employment & Counseling Centre, Jammu. The resource person for the program was Aashiq Hussain Wani, Head, PMKVY, Training Centre, Govt of India, Softech Institute of IT.
In the inaugural session the Principal of the College, Kulvinder Kour exhorted the students to take maximum benefit of all the Govt. Schemes meant for empowering the youth because if we want to transform our country into a developed nation our youth will have to become self-reliant and job creators rather than being job seekers.
She also thanked Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, UT of J&K, Talat Parvez Rohella for bridging the gap between various departments meant for the welfare of youth and Higher Education department through the Placement and Career Counseling Cells of all colleges in J&K.
During the program, Wani apprised the students about the various schemes launched by Govt. of India. He also made the students aware about the training schemes and financial support that the government is providing to trainees and future entrepreneurs. In his concluding remarks he shared the feedback data and response of those who have been benefitted by various programs launched by GOI.
The coordinators of DECC Jammu, Dushyant Singh, Career Counselling Officer and Ms Shivali Choudhary, Employment Officer also shared relevant information during the program.
The event was organized by members of Placement Cell of GCOE, viz. Prof Shalini Rana, Prof Rubina Yasmeen, Prof Shapia Shameem , Prof Seema Sharma and Prof Vinay Lata.
