POONCH, Feb 17: As a part of the “Road Safety Month-2021, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Dr. Basharat Hussain, along with the Additional Superintendent of Police, Khalid Amin today inaugurated a Vehicle Fitness Mela here at Jhulas. Assistant Regional Transport Officer Poonch, Inzar Ahmed Rana, MVD Inspector Poonch and other officials were also present on the occasion. The ARTO informed that the Special Vehicles fitness camps has been held to facilitate the owners to check the fitness of their vehicles. The Additional Deputy commissioner, while speaking on the occasion, said that the fitness tests are being done to ensure that the vehicles are road-worthy as they tend to go through a lot of wear and tear year-on-year. “These fitness tests will also ensure safety of participants and restrict chances of breakdown of vehicles during procession,” he added. He said that Road safety Month is being held to spread awareness on the prevention of accidents and cautioning residents against their callous attitude towards following guidelines while driving the vehicles. As many as 80 vehicles were checked at the camp. The medical examination of 120 Drivers and cleaners was also done on the spot. |
