Childline Jammu, a nodal organization, department of law, University of Jammu organized special activity for the promotion of PSS ( Psychological Support ) with the students and support staff of Louis Braille Memorial Residential school for sightless girls, Roop Nagar, Jammu. A talk session was also organized for the staff of the Blind School on "Psychosocial support for Children during COVID-19" by Rohit Khajuria, city coordinator and Vineet Sharma, Founder of Youthinkers Club in which there was a detailed discussion about how this current COVID 19 scenario is affecting children and what new challenges are the parents and care givers facing. In addition to children, COVID-19 is also bringing new stressors on parent and caregivers. This can hamper their capacity to provide care and remain engaged with their children. Being very keen observers of people and environments, children will notice, absorb and react to the stress in their caregivers and community members, which unavoidably will affect their well-being. Inmates of the Blind School were made aware about the ongoing COVID situation and recent developments made in this field including the vaccine. Recreational event was also organised for inmates. Childline is a national emergency service for children in need of care and protection and works 24X7 in this field. The project is supported by ministry of women and child development, Government of India. |
