Another police station under scanner for 'security lapse' in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report jammu, Feb 27: The Police Station Sader in the summer capital of Srinagar has come under the scanner of the government for the alleged "security lapse" that led to the killing of two cops in Baghat area of Srinagar on February 19. The spot where the cops were shot dead is barely a few yards away from the Sader Police Station. Sources said some officials have raised questions that "if this was the state of security preparedness outside police station, the plight elsewhere can only be imagined." Sources said at a high level meeting held in Srinagar on February 20 in the wake of the recent attacks, the top officials discussed the issue of apprehended security lapse at length. Sources said though some of the officials ruled out lapse, an inquiry being ordered into the matter, is not being ruled out. It is for the second time in the last around a year that a police station in Kashmir has come under the scanner for the alleged security lapse. In July 2020, the Police Station in Bandipora had come under the scanner for a similar attack. That time militants killed former district president of BJP Bandipore, Shiekh Waseem Bari along with his father and brother in the main town of Bandipore. Police had said that militants attacked Shiekh Waseem Bari at his shop at Muslimabad Bandipore in the evening. In the attack, Bari's father Bashir Ahmad and younger brother Umar were also injured. The attack had taken place close to the police station where Bari had his house and a shop. Soon after the attack, police and army launched a search operation in the area to track down the terrorists who managed to flee. The same happened in case of Baghat incident that before police would swing to action, the militants had fled. They are believed to have fled on a bike. |
