FFMA seeks maintenance of Dogra Shourya Sthal Park
3/8/2021 10:37:38 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 8: Freedom Fighter Memorial Association (FFMA) J&K, Jammu on Monday alleged that due to negligence of Jammu Municipal Corporation, condition of Dogra Shourya Sthal Park has become worse.
In a press statement issued here, Vice Chairman FFMA, Rajiv Mahajan said, “Parks are one of the most visited recreational places and it is the responsibility of local management to take care of them.”
Dogra Shourya Sthal Park is used by freedom fighters and other nationalist organisations to pay tributes to martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation, he added.
“The grass and shrubs at the park are not being cut. Moreover, bushes are so tall and unkempt that snakes and other dangerous creatures can hide easily in them thereby causing a threat to lives of people,” he said.
FFMA has always taken initiatives to clean and maintain Dogra Shourya Sthal Park at its own cost, he said.
“JMC’s tall claim to make Jammu neat and clean has totally failed as a beautiful park in the city is missing its sheen with every passing day due to carelessness and apathetic attitude of authorities,” he asserted.
Mahajan further said, “We are unable to understand why the authorities are not taking any step to clean and beautify this park despite repeated requests and reminders.”
FFMA members also warned some anti-social elements to desist from capturing land of Dogra Shourya Sthal Park illegally. FFMA members who carried out a cleanliness drive at the park include Chairman Ved Gandotra, General Secretary Th. Karnail Chand, Vice Presidents SS Balwal, Pritam Sharma, Prof R. P Sharma, Secretary Parbhat Kapahi and others.
