Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 10: Jammu-. J&K Housing Board today handed over the letters of transfer of ownership rights to the plot owners of Housing Colony, Gandhinagar, Jammu at their doorsteps who voluntarily vacated the 10 feet patch in front of their plots which initially was part of the road. This is a major step towards retrieval of land in the possession of plot owners in Housing Colony, Gandhinagar, Jammu. While appreciating the initiative taken by the plot holders, Managing Director, J&K Housing Board, Mohammad Shahid Saleem said that they have set a right example for the other residents of the area, who have encroached upon the land which was meant to be road and this shall go a long way in further development of amenities including roads, cycle tracks, footpaths and beautification of the Housing Colony. He said that the land in front of these plots was meant to be reserved as green patches and for development of other amenities as mentioned. As a passage of time these were included in the total built up area of the plot resulting in narrowing of the roads leading to traffic congestion, noise pollution and giving bad shape to a well planned colony. Managing Director on this occasion requested the other allottees of all the Housing Colonies to take lead and vacate the land voluntarily to restore the glory of the Housing Colony which was envisaged to provide the state of art housing facilities to the residents of the colony viz-a-viz wide roads, green patches and other facilities like cycle tracks with a view to fulfil the sustainable development goals of the United Nation to have sustainable and resilient Cities & Towns.
