Obsession With Brands
3/14/2021 11:29:36 PM
Kashmir centric leaders ostensibly asking travelers to get imported things for them from foreign countries is a revelation. If it’s true then it’s strange as it shows their obsession with brands, which they believe are status symbols.
A BJP leader, Khaild Jehangir from Kashmir tweeted: “Breaking: It has come to the notice of many that Kashmiri politicians are begging things from people who are travelling from Dubai. Shame on you, have some self respect these travelers talk about this to everyone. STOP POLITICAL BEGGING. EAT HALAL, WEAR HALAL.”
The BJP leader taking a dig at the leaders from other Kashmir centric parties has stirred a hornet’s nest. This has put all of them in a same boat. For the past two years these leaders have not visited any foreign country due to political scenario getting changed. After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K’s special status and bifurcated it into two union territories—wings of these leaders have been clipped otherwise they used to enjoy foreign trips every now and then.
It seems that these leaders have become so brand conscious that they can’t imagine living their lives without wearing branded clothes. They are the same leaders who prior to August 5, 2019 used to enjoy the life to hilt.
Everything was at their disposal and they used to live like monarchs.
What’s astounding is that despite these leaders enjoying all the facilities and privileges that were provided by New Delhi they raked such issues that didn’t fall in their domain. They always tried to create a notion that Kashmir is a problem that needs to be resolved.
When these leaders were in power they provided enough space to the separatists to propagate Pakistan’s cause. Had they acted tough against the anti-national elements and the stooges of the neighbouring country Kashmir would not have been a in a mess today.
Prior to Narendra Modi taking over as the Prime Minister of the country former regimes in the Centre gave free hand to these politicians and they kept on dictating terms to the people sitting in New Delhi. They had created a notion that they are the only ones who can rule Jammu and Kashmir and if any attempt is made to disturb them, situation can turn explosive.
But after August 5, 2019, situation has changed. It has changed so drastically that these leaders have started asking for gifts as they can’t even travel to foreign countries, which used to be second home for them.
