After NIA exposes her links with HM terrorist Mehbooba calls emergent meeting of PDP's PAC
3/28/2021 12:09:58 AM
Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 27: Two days after National Investigation Agency (NIA) claimed her links with dreaded Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Naveed Babu, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti convened meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of her party to devise future course of action.
The emergent meeting was held on Saturday evening where a thorough discussion was held on Enforcement Directorate's (ED) action against her and NIA's charge sheet against Waheed Parra.
Reliable sources said that Mehbooba Mufti has realized that after ED, now there was a chance that NIA would summon her for questioning because her role was exposed in the charge-sheet. "Mehbooba seeks opinion of all members of the PAC", sources said.
NIA in its charge-sheet claimed that Mehbooba Mufti knew arrested Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Naveed Babu and had also spoken to him once.
This is for the first time that name of Mufti has come up in any of the cases being probed by the NIA in J&K.
"The name of the former chief Minister has emerged in the case related to arrested DySP Davinder Singh and HM terrorist Naveed Babu", sources said.
The NIA had filed a supplementary charge-sheet against three persons, including arrested PDP youth wing chief Waheed Parra, who allegedly worked as a financier for Hizbul Mujahideen in connection with the case.
The NIA in its supplementary charge-sheet has claimed that Parra was part of the "conspiracy" to raise and transfer terror funds to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists for the procurement of terrorist hardware and was also a crucial player in sustaining the political-separatist-terrorist nexus in J&K.
Besides Parra, the NIA has also named two gun runners -- Shaheen Ahmad Lone and Tafazul Hussain Parimoo -- in connection with the case.
Suspended police officer Singh is currently lodged in Kathua jail at Hiranagar in Jammu division. He was arrested by the police on January 11 last year from the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway while transporting two Hizbul terrorists -- Naveed Babu and Rafi Ahmad Rather -- and a law school dropout, Irfan Shafi Mir, to Jammu.
