Lamberi people seek DDC's intervention to resolve water scarcity
4/3/2021 11:31:11 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Apr 3: The people of Lamberi area of Nowshera Tehsil in Rajouri District have been struggling to get regular drinking water supply in the area that extends to about three Panchayat Halqas. The people are anguished over this situation and accuse the PHE department of gross negligence and carelessness as a result of which they hardly get drinking water supply for five days in a month.
In a statement issued here today, Sarpanch Vijay Kumar said that he along with a deputation approached the PHE officials multiple times to get this significant issue addressed but every time the PHE officials come up with lame excuses. He said that according to PHE, the deficiency in water supply is due to hiccups on account of trouble with the motors/pumps at the pumping station. Social activist Noval Sharma said, "It seems that those entrusted with the functioning of PHE department here have failed miserably in performing their duty up to mark. If the motor/pump breaks down every time even after getting repaired, what is the logic behind incurring such repeated expenditure on it? Instead the department should go for installation of the new equipment so that the drinking water supply to this area is addressed once for all."
They appealed for intervention of the District Development Commissioner Rajouri to resolve their drinking water supply problem. They threatened to resort to strong protests on roads in case the concerned authorities failed to provide them regular drinking water supply at the earliest.
The signatories to the statement included Sarpanch Nazama Shine and Sarpanch Suraj Parkash.
