Untrustworthy Leaders
4/5/2021 10:59:46 PM

Poster boy of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Waheed Para, who rose to fame in a very young age and was a trusted lieutenant of PDP chief and former J&K chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, is facing serious charges of financing disruptive activities in Kashmir.
The National Investigation Agency in its recent charge sheet has claimed that Para provided Rs 5 crore to Hurriyat after the killing of Hizbul Mujaheedin militant Burhan Wani in 2016 to keep the pot boiling in the Valley.
Recently, Mehbooba Mufti, was summoned by Enforcement Directorate for questioning in a funding case. Her troubles have increased manifolds during the past few months.
After J&K's transition into a union territory wrongs committed by a few mainstream politicians have shocked everyone. Role of PDP had been dubious from the very beginning. The investigating agencies have brought that facts to fore which one could have never even imagined. The PDP which joined hands with BJP in 2015 to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir had monetary connections with Pakistan stooges is unacceptable. The Centre had trusted the PDP but if the charges against the party are proved it would be a big betrayal.
The recent developments have proven it beyond doubt that Kashmir centric leaders cannot be trusted and nor can they be relied upon. Kashmir based leaders ruled J&K for the past seven decades but it's unfortunate that instead of being loyal to the country they left no opportunity to appease the people sitting across the Line of Control (LoC). They kept the conflict alive by claiming that Kashmir needs to be settled. They had created a notion that they only can rule J&K and if any attempt is made to replace them, Kashmir will burn. But after August 5, 2019-when the Centre announced its decision to abrogate J&K's special status and divided it into two union territories-they have been left red faced.
The PDP led by Mehbooba Mufti turned out to be an extension of Hurriyat Conference as it indulged in promoting separatism and sedition. The nationalist, who from the day one had raised a red-flag about the PDP can't be trusted, stand vindicated as all their predictions have come true.
The facts that have come to fore during the past one and half year cannot be ignored. Whosoever becomes a part of the government from Kashmir in future will have to prove his loyalty towards the country first and then think about power.
