Private schools made uniform compulsory even during online classes
Parents see it as deliberate attempt to sell uniforms

Early Times Report
jammu, Apr 5: As the government has closed the schools and directed the administration to switch over to online modes, some private schools have instructed the students to wear school uniforms even during the online classes.
The attempt is seen as a part of efforts of the school administration to sell their uniforms from designated shops, which in turn give huge commission over the purchase of school uniforms.
According to an online communique forwarded to the parents by a School management, the parents as well as students have been instructed to strictly follow rules and regulations during the online classes.
The second prominent regulation reads, "Sit in proper School Uniform on chair with table........while the concluding paragraph reads Be punctual. Latecomers will not be admitted". The rule regarding sitting in proper school uniform is seen as an attempt by the schools to sell their uniforms.
"During last session of Corona lockdown, no such restrictions were imposed by the School authorities but this time, those students who were not in their school uniforms were warned to be come in uniform otherwise they will be marked as absent", parents of a student informed, adding that even the students have the uniforms of previous years but such uniforms were not allowed.
Another parent said that if the intention behind such a move was to ensure seriousness in the online class-work then the students should be instructed to attend classes in proper attire. "The Schools have mandated two uniforms for each student. One uniform is of the School and another of the House in which the student belongs. In this way a student has to purchase two uniforms. The cost of a pair of uniforms is around one thousand and the uniform is available in a particular designated shop", the parents said, alleging that the school management got huge commission with the selling of school uniforms, so such instructions have been issued.
Chief Education Officer Jammu Satpal Sharma said that the private schools could not impose such dictatorial decisions on the students. "It is totally unethical on part of school management to instruct students to join online classes that too in proper school uniforms", Sharma said.
