Despite tested positive Omar defends corona vaccine
4/10/2021 1:03:16 AM

Early Times Report
jammu, Apr 9: Although he is tested positive after taking Covid jab a couple of days back, former chief minister and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah strongly defended the vaccine made in the country to check the spread of deadly virus.
"This headline makes it seem like the vaccine failed & is exactly the sort of messaging that has people doubting vaccine efficacy. The vaccine takes 2-3 weeks to take effect & also the vaccine does not prevent COVID but helps prevent serious illness", Omar tweeted while referenced towards headlines of some news portals after he was tested positive.
Social media and some news portals flooded with comments that Omar Abdullah is tested positive despite taking the vaccine but the former Chief Minister defended the vaccine.
On Wednesday Omar Abdullah took his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar.
After his vaccination, the Jammu and Kashmir leader took to Twitter thanking the medical team for their service.
"Got my first dose of the Covid vaccine this morning. It was a smooth and painless affair. I am grateful to everyone at SKIMS, Srinagar for vaccinating me today," Omar Abdullah tweeted.
This afternoon Omar Abdullah tested positive. Taking to Twitter on Friday, Omar said he is asymptomatic and self-isolating.
"For a year I did my best to dodge this damn virus but it's finally caught up with me. I tested positive for Covid-19 this afternoon," Omar tweeted.
"I'm completely asymptotic. Based on medical advice I'm self-isolating at home and monitoring my parameters like oxygen saturation levels etc.", he tweeted.
