In LG rule, J&K Sports Council likely to promote 'corrupt' official in upcoming DPC | | | Early Times Report jammu, Apr 11: Although the employees of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council are in upbeat mood in the wake of upcoming promotions but taking an advantage, the sports body is likely to promote one of the senior officials in the administration who is allegedly facing corruption charges and the case is still with the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Sources in the J&K Sports Council informed that the name of one of the senior officials, who is presently posted as in-charge, has also been included in the list to be tabled before the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) scheduled for Monday. The said officer will also play a key role at the time of DPC. Pertinent to mention here that the Secretary, J&K Sports Council is presently in Kashmir and may visit Jammu on April 14, whose presence being head of the Council, is must to hold the DPC. "It is surprising that one of the officers, facing corruption charges and the case is with the ACB, is also among those to be promoted," sources said. They said that on one hand, many deserving employees, who have been awaiting promotion, were being neglected and on the other, those involved in corruption and malpractices, are ruling the roost and touching heights with promotions. "Also, one of the employees from Kashmir (close relative of Ex-Congress Minister from Kashmir), transferred to Jammu, is a middle pass and was recruited as Fourth Class at the time of appointment, but has been elevated as instructor on the pretext of participating in district/state level meet against others, who are much qualified and instead of being promoted, they were allegedly degraded," sources said adding that some of the non-qualified employees, have also produced certificates/diplomas of various disciplines to get promotion. Sources claimed that many employees in the J&K Sports Council, have also obtained degrees and other qualification documents from non-recognised universities and have managed promotions on that. "The government must order enquiry into this and scrutinise the educational qualifications and those having degrees from non-affiliated Universities, should be demoted immediately for which the government has already initiated the process and should be adopted in the J&K Sports Council as well," they added. "J&K Sports Council have always remained in limelight for one reason or the another either it is tampering of official record like date of birth, educational qualification or seniority," sources added and said that this time, the J&K Sports Council has crossed all limits by giving undue benefit to a corrupt officer, who has reportedly already managed two promotions behind the door and elevated as in-charge for top post. Sources further revealed that some of the employees are fighting a legal battle for seniority, seeking justice but despite that, the upcoming Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) is eyeing to favour their 'blue-eyed' employees, presently posted as managers. "The DPC was one of the major and long pending demands of the employees and they have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also President, J&K Sports Council by default, that the promotion of deserving employees should not be hampered at the cost of few 'corrupt' officers, who have been playing the spoilsport in the department since years," employees added. They also alleged that the said officer, is also hand in glove with some of the senior staff in technical (coaching) section and administration, was also found indulged in favouring sports associations by sanctioning annual grants in their favour without seeking the required documentations. Sources maintained that the officer had a lavish property in Kashmir worth crores and have always been successful in dodging many investigating agencies. "The LG should frame a high level committee to probe mass bungling, corrupt practices and embezzlement of funds at larger scale in the J&K Sports Council for transparent working in the interest of deserving employees," they asserted. |
