CEO Rajouri shows lack of administrative skills
No desk provided to girl students of 12th class for exams, forced to sit on shabby mat

RAJOURI, Apr 15: The non-seriousness of the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri was seen today when girl students appearing for 12th class exams were not provided desks and were forced to sit on a shabby mat for giving their exams.
The students openly criticised the mismanagement of the district education department for taking a casual approach to conduct examinations. It was very shocking to know that the examination centres were located just under the nose of the office of the Chief Education Officer Rajouri. The parents of the students took strong note of the issue and criticised the School Education Department for their failure to make arrangement of desks for all students due to which they had to face huge difficulty in writing their answer sheets.
Talking to Early Times, girl students told that there was exam of physics today but due to shortage of desks in these examination centres in Government Boys Middle School and Government Girls Middle School which are adjacent to the CEO Office where the boys were given desks while girls were asked and forced to sit on mat for attending their exams. “As per guidelines, the department has to provide desks to all students appearing for examination. Despite the fact that the students are not accustomed to give exams by sitting on the ground yet we were forced. Although exams of 12th class are always vital for every student, which further decides their future due to grading but we were very uncomfortable while writing answers on sheets,” aggrieved students alleged.
They further said that due to negligence of the concerned department, students had to suffer a lot. An alternative seating system has been made by the department in girls’ centre where some students are asked to sit on mat and told that desks will be provided in the next exam.
The major difficulty was faced by those girl students who had not carried card boards with them today and had to write answer sheets in their absence. They informed the invigilator about it to the invigilator but they gave deaf ears to their grievances.
“Guidelines envisaged that before conducting exams, the facilities like water, light, desks are ensured by invigilators so that students might not face any problem. But in the above said centres, there was shortage of desks,” they alleged.
Expressing their anger, the parents of some students said that the CEO Rajouri should be asked to sit for 3 hours on mat and only then he would come to know about the problem faced by the girls.
Director School Education Jammu Dr Ravi Shanker Sharma said that if reports are true then it is a very serious violation on the part of CEO Rajouri and the invigilators who had to ensure all facilities in the examination centres. He further assured that he would enquire about the matter from CEO Rajouri and will ensure that proper seating arrangements are provided to the students.
