EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 20: Former MLC and senior Congress leader Ravinder Sharma has termed the emerging covid-19 situation as very serious due to the callous approach of the government.
Sharma appealed to the people to strictly follow the health advisories besides extending full support to the authorities in the fight against covid.
Sharma said, as reports and opinions of experts, the challenge of the second surge of covid-19 is more serious than the earlier one but the government has yet to wake up to face the new challenge, so the people will have to be more vigilant to the growing situation to save society from facing the worst.
The Congress leader questioned the failure of the Central Government to visualize the situation and blamed that it ignored the growing challenge, as it concentrated on enhancing the ruling party’s electoral prospects with full might in the assembly elections in different states rather than saving the lives of people. The number of vaccinations carried out in around four months, are very low in view of large population of our country besides the export of the medicine and vaccine to other countries, lack of incentives to manufacturers and charging of GST on the medical equipments of covid-19 etc are those areas which reflects the indifferent approach of the government in the matter.
The Congress leadership and CWC has raised very pertinent questions and the former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, drew the attention of the Modi government towards the various crucial aspects, to effectively fight the pandemic, before Dr Singh himself detected positive.
He asked the government to strictly implement the guidelines and ensure the breaking of the chains besides putting in place additional health and infrastructure facilities to be required in the days to come.
He also appealed to the people including the religious and spiritual leaders, social and political personalities and organizations to spread the message in the society and amongst the general public to adopt the required life style and behavior to overcome the challenge of covid and help authorities fight the emerging situation. He also appealed party workers to motivate the people to follow SOPs.
