EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 21: Member DDC Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony, who acted as Convenor of DDC Members’ Forum of J&K, on Wednesday appealed to all the DDC members and political leaders of various political parties to observe social distancing norms and cooperate with the government in checking the unprecedented surge of coronavirus especially on account of advent of second wave in J&K. In a statement issued here, he urged political parties, social organizations and individuals to religiously follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set in by the government and maintain social distancing without any lethargy or laxity. He said that all political parties should become politically dormant as long as the lethal coronavirus is in the air as saving the lives of people is more important than anything else. He said that no individual should be allowed to take liberties as far as obeying the corona guidelines are concerned. He said the administration should take strict note of any defiance of the guidelines to contain COVID-19.
Taking a valid stand, Tony said that the onus of controlling transmission of coronavirus entirely lies on the public as the government can only suggest measures but the responsibility of implementation is on people. He appealed to the people not to take coronavirus lightly as almost every household has seen the impact of this disease in one way or the other. He said that time demands that people should give unconditional support to the government rather than creating problems by not adhering to guidelines to contain the spread of contagion corona.
The DDC member emphasized that people should pledge not to gather and provide a conducive environment for the virus to spread its wings and fly. He made it clear that apart from taking vaccination, the other significant steps to stop the virus still are maintaining hand sanitization, wearing masks, keeping social distancing and remaining aloof as far as possible. He appealed to people to adhere to the aforesaid norms and remain safe and healthy.
