Govt to probe ‘backdoor’ appointments of PDP-BJP regime
4/23/2021 11:33:38 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 23: In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to order a probe into the allegedly backdoor appointments made during the previous Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janta Party regime.
Sources said New Delhi has given a go ahead for the job and that the JK government was finalizing modalities to chose the investigating agency for such cases.
Sources said the government has started discussions on the issue with the Anti Corruption Bureau in particular and that investigations were likely to be started in the coming days.
It was reliably learnt the government has inputs that not only the lower cadre appointments were made through the backdoor but that even the “middle cadre” posts were filled on alleged “influence.”
“There are many such cases but things will get clear only when a formal inquiry is ordered into the matter,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
He said a special investigation team was likely to be constituted to accomplish the probe “in a time bound manner.” It is pertinent to mention that the then Mehbooba Mufti led government is facing numerous allegations including those of backdoor appointments.
Sources said several people were appointed even in the Civil Secretariat during the PDP led regime.
Sources said what the government would equally look into the complaints that if the “rules were bend to make such influential appointments.” It’s pertinent to mention that the then PDP government has been already facing charges of having “bend the rules” to benefit the grandson of a senior separatist leader in particular in getting in “high profile” job at the SKICC.
“There are many cases which the government needs to probe and things will get clear only when the probe is initiated,” said a senior official.
Source said the government would call for probe in some specific cases in the beginning and would carry on with the investigations accordingly.
