Lockdown only way out
4/29/2021 11:40:02 PM
Decision of Jammu and Kashmir administration to impose a complete lockdown in eleven districts across the union territory is an attempt to slow down pace of COVID-19 virus that has wreaked havoc across the union territory.
Four districts of Jammu region, including Jammu, Kathua, Reasi and Udhampur will remain under corona curfew from Thursday evening (7 pm) till Monday morning (7 am).
Surge in number of COVID-19 cases and the increase in mortality rate has sent the alarm bells ringing and situation is turning grim. Things may turn ugly in coming days.
The lockdown is the only way to stop the virus from moving.
Life has to stop for sometime for normalcy to return. It can’t be business as usual.
Strategy of imposing a smart lockdown has worked in the states like Maharashtra and Karnataka, one hopes this step works in J&K also. The curve has to be flattened to decrease the cases as well as the Covid deaths.
People should realize that it’s not only the government which has to act responsibly, masses too have to realize that they need to cooperate and have follow the Covid sops in letter and spirit.
During the first wave of COVID-19 Jammuties led from the front and set an example about how to fight the pestilence. This time also they have to lead from the front and send a message across that they can defeat the virus through their resilience and steadfastness.
The government has announced the lockdown for the benefit of people. It’s a temporary loss but in the long run it will prove to be beneficial. We have to save the human lives at any cost. There can be no compromise on it.
People need to understand that till now no proper cure has been found for the COVID. Precaution is the only way out. Hospitals are getting crowded and the demand for the oxygen has increased.
If the patient rush keeps on increasing, the entire system will collapse, so we have to ensure that things don’t turn ugly. We are passing through a difficult phase.
It too shall pass but we have to use our commonsense to defeat the COVID-19. In many western countries people remained under lockdown for many months when the second wave of the Covid had arrived there.
The lockdown is a time tested strategy and in the present circumstances it looks like the only way out.
