Difficult situation
5/3/2021 11:27:56 PM

The second wave of COVID-19 has ripped apart Jammu region. People are gasping for breath as the oxygen cylinders are not easily available in the market.
Patients who are under home isolation are finding it hard to keep some oxygen spare with them as it has disappeared from the market.
The COVID-19 patients with falling oxygen levels have been left with no other option other than to visit the hospitals and get admitted. The government seems to have taken control of the oxygen cylinders to ensure that there is no black marketing or hoarding of this essential commodity at this crucial juncture. But the authorities need to put some mechanism at place so that the patients in their homes don’t suffer and if any of them requires the oxygen he or she gets it without struggling for it.
Situation across Jammu and Kashmir is grim as the pandemic is raging and people are trying their best to fight it out. But it seems that the resources are limited and they are unable to fight the Covid onslaught effectively.
As the cases and deaths are increasing people have no idea about how long would this situation last. The government has established COVID war rooms and is taking other steps to diffuse the crisis but it seems that the situation has gone out of hand and things are not going to be that easy.
The hospitals are getting crowded and the space is shrinking. The makeshift facilities that have been put in place too are getting filled. Getting vaccinated seems to be the only way out but there are reports that there is shortage of vaccines and the government may take few more days to refurbish the stocks. It appears that May and June months are crucial as the experts have predicted that peak is yet to come.
People need to take extra precautions and follow the COVID sops in letter and spirit. No one can deny the fact that the virus is everywhere and it’s attacking the humans, right, left and centre. The experts are urging people to wear double masks as the COVID-19 is airborne. People have to cooperate. The imposition of lockdown can help in reducing the number of cases as it will stop the movement of the virus. But all of us need to bear in mind that we cannot only depend upon the government machinery. We have to help ourselves to come out from this war like situation.
