Give compensation to farmers who lost standing crops due to fire: Kundal
5/7/2021 11:29:35 PM
Early Times Report

Vijaypur, May 7: Senior leader Jammu Kashmir National Panther Party, and former minister, Yashpal Kundal today appealed Govt to grant relief compensation to the farmers whose standing crops have been burnt in accidental fire.
In a statement to the press, the former minister highlighted the problem of crop burning due to which they have lost next six months ration. Speaking on the occasion, Yashpal Kundal said that the farmers have lost their crop during the hot summer weather conditions and the losses should be accessed by the authorities so that needed compensation as per market rate is given to the farmers.
“A team of experts should be constituted and sent to the affected villages to make accurate assessment of the losses suffered by the farmers in Vijaypur due to fire,” he said.
He said that the farmers grow their crops for six months which many of them have lost to the accidental fire and therefore, they are dependent upon the Govt compensation and ration.
“Ration and sugar should be provided to these affected families of farmers for their survival for next six months,” he demanded.
He said that many farmers have also lost fodder and there is nothing to feed to their cattle. “The farmers have no other source of earning except their fields and hence, the Govt should provide fodder for the cattle free of cost,” he demanded.
He also said that the electricity bills of the farmers should be waived off by the authorities keeping in view the financial conditions of the farmers.
“The charging of electricity bills from these poor farmers, who have lost their crops, and fodder due to fire incidents would be injustice,” he added.
