KU’s Prof Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat loses battle to COVID-19, passes away at hospital 5/16/2021 11:23:06 PM Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 16: Professor Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat, Head, Department of Electronics Engineering, Institute of Technology and Director of the Institute of Technology, University of Kashmir (KU) passed away at Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial (JLNM) Hospital, Rainawari during the preceding night. Prof Bhat was infected by Corona Virus and was shifted to SKIMS-Soura, but due to the non-availability of space at SKIMS he had to be shifted to JLNM Hospital Rainawari. He breathed his last at the hospital during the intervening night of May 15 and 16. Reports said that his saturation level dropped to 30 percent following which he could not recover and bade farewell to the material world. Prof. Bhat was the recipient of two patents for his electro-mechanical cassette player and novel techniques for plus code modulation in 2003. Professor Bhat was a visionary leader and a renowned scientist. Prof Bhat was a born genius, an outstanding researcher, a great teacher and above all a humble human who always expressed his concern for grass root innovators and worked tirelessly for shaping their ideas. Expressing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, Prof Talat said: “Prof Bhat was a very noble soul and had an ardent desire to work dedicatedly towards the welfare and development of the university. It is a very sad day for the whole university fraternity. His demise is a big loss to the university.” Dean Academic Affairs Prof Shabir A Bhat described Prof Bhat as a hardworking teacher who left an indelible mark on Kashmir’s academic and innovation landscape.
