EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 21: Amid pandemic, the J&K Mahila Congress observed the 30th death anniversary of former Prime Minister, Late Rajiv Gandhi by distributing ration, medical kits, and other essential commodities to the people in distress. Activists of Mahila Congress under the leadership of President Pradesh Mahila Congress, and former MLA, Indu Pawar organized camps in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir to reach out to the needy people- amid unprecedented situation due to the spread of deadly Coronavirus. After paying tributes to former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, ration and other material were distributed to the helpless people who were gathered in large number in different areas.
Apart from the ration, medical kits-comprising some medicines and oximeters were also distributed among families of needy people. Speaking on the occasion, Indu Pawar paid tributes to late Rajiv Gandhi and said former Prime Minister had brought technological revolution in India during his tenure. She said that it was only during the regime of late Rajiv Gandhi Ji that hi-tech system was introduced to bring transparency in the governance. Mahila Congress leader further said credit for decentralizing democracy goes to late Rajiv Gandhi who had brought 73rd and 74th amendments in the Indian Constitution to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies in the country. She cautioned that the nation is passing through a very crucial time due to the spread of the deadly virus in every nock and corner of the country. She, however, regretted that it was all due to mishandling of the situation by the incumbent government that death of the helpless patients are going unabated in the whole country. Pointing towards the highest mortality rate in Jammu province, the Mahila Congress president asked authorities to take some effective steps to control deaths in different hospitals across Jammu province.
