Plea to Hon'ble LG Sahab

The whole country at present is threatened by the Corona Virus and with the each passing day the situation is deteriorating. There is no respite from the ill effects of corona virus till date as it has already consumed lakhs of precious human lives in India. Now another deadly disease with the name of Black Fungus is endangering the human lives and hundreds of cases have been reported from various states and is a cause of utmost concern. Besides this, third wave of Covid as per some reports of WHO is yet to come which seems to be very deadly. Therefore, the overall situation arising out of this lethal virus is unprecedented in nature and all of us can do a bit by following Covid appropriate behaviour and the mantra of social distancing.
The increasing Covid positive cases and fatalities happening in J&K UT is a subject of big concern. In order to break the chain of this virus, our UT has already imposed lockdown and all modes of public transportation has been closed in J&K. But with the closure of public transport the government employees are facing extreme inconvenience and hardships. There are thousands of such govt. employees who are not having any conveyance of their own and are unable to reach their offices. So for such employees 'Work From Home' WFH initiative must be initiated as almost all offices are now digitised in J&K and hence the concept of Work From Home must work and need to be adopted in times of covid crisis which in the loop long run will streamline total work of govt offices. The work from home initiative is a novel way of doing work from home at a time when the whole world is threatened by the deadly coronavirus. It is heartening that all private organisations have allowed its employees to work from home to avoid social contact as this virus spreads through touch and not through air. It would be in the fitness of things to allow government employees to work from home.
This noval idea and practice will help in social distancing and it will have the two pronged effect. On one side it will have a positive effect on the work and on the other side it will help us in our fight against the virus. The work from home should be ensured by all governmental organisations and only then will we be successful in our endeavours otherwise not. Work from home will keep the wheels of the economic activity going on and it will also give a blow to the virus which has become a epidemic and is threatening us today. Work from home initiative is a temporary measure and is not a permanent alternative. It is a temporary measure to tide over the current situation which has arisen due to the emergence of the virus. We cannot be complacent and allow our economic activity to stop but we should keep the works going on and for this it is all the more necessary that the work is not disturbed but should go on in the interest of the country. Therefore the practice of work from home will have a positive effect on the work and also will give a death blow to the effects of the deadly virus. The private sector has already adopted this initiative and is working on this on war footing. But unfortunately in J&K the government has not considered this initiative till date. However, in J&K UT the government has already restricted the staff attendance to 50 percent but nothing that sort has happened till date.
The government offices must adopt the initiative of "Work From Home" for those employees who are unable to attend office due to the closure of public transport.
Therefore, the J&K government departments and offices should be allowed to work from home so that the works will not suffer and at the same time the adverse effects of the virus will be limited. For this it is in the fitness of things that the employees should work from their homes which will ensure social distancing and it will also be a measure to work at the time of the crises. All of us should contribute our might in this noble cause of working from the home and defeating the effects of the virus. Since working from the home will restrict the social interface and this as such will help in the containment of the coronavirus. Through these columns of your esteemed newspaper I would like to make an humble appeal to the LG's administration to implement "Work From Home" initiative for the government sector employees which in the ultimate analysis will go a long way in combating Corona virus.
