End of separatism in Kashmir
5/22/2021 12:09:12 AM
Separatists based in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) tried their best to foment trouble in Kashmir on the occasion of death anniversary of Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq and Abdul Gani Lone.
They issued statements from Muzzafarabad urging people in Kashmir to observe the strike and hold demonstrations. But their instigation didn't work as people are fed up with separatists and their politics. They don't want to get carried away by rhetoric and mere slogans anymore. They have had enough of it.
Like last year Hurriyat dove, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, didn't issue any strike or chalo call on his father's death anniversary this year. He cited COVID-19 as a reason for not issuing any call this year but everyone is aware of the fact Mirwaiz Umar has fallen in the line after abrogation of J&K's special status on August 5, 2019. Had he not remained silent, he (Mirwaiz) too would have ended up in jail like other separatists.
Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq was assassinated by militants on May 21 in 1990 at his home, while Abdul Gani Lone was shot dead by the ultras in 2002 at Eidgah in old city when he was attending the gathering that was organized to pay tributes to late Mirwaiz. He too was shot dead by the militants.
Despite both these leaders being killed by the militants, separatists during all these years have been organizing anti-national rallies. Every Kashmiri is aware of the fact that both these assassinations were carried out at the behest of Pakistan and New Delhi had no role in it.
After the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, separatists have been cut to size. Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani has taken retirement from politics, while Hurriyat dove, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has gone into oblivion. Others are cooling their heels in jail.
Bosses of separatists sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) are unable to digest that their stooges have called it a day and they can no more succeed in their nefarious designs. Security forces are having an upper hand over the militants and they too have been sent packing. Pakistan has lost the proxy war that it launched against India 30-years ago. All its resources stand exhausted and our neighbor stands exposed before the international community. The ceasefire which was announced by armies of both the countries along the Line of Control earlier this year has held good so far. It's clear that separatists and their politics have no future. The Hurriyat dove seems to have realized that sedition won't be tolerated as India has changed under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
