Jammu, June 3: In order to commemorate the world bicycle day, cyclists of bicycle for change club Kathua today with few cyclists namely Cyclist Arnab Singh, national cyclist Lukesh Sharma, Arush Mansotra, Narinder Singh, Deep Sharma, Sumit Samybal, Narinder Raina, Nikhil. Ajay and Vishal organised a short ride from Kathua stadium and passed through Changran and khokhyal and back by following the covid guidelines like social distancing and wearing of mask as mandatory with the aim to aware the general masses about the importance of this day.
While addressing coordinator Sunil Sharma of the club said that bicycle day is celebrated on June 3 every year. The idea behind it is to recognise the longevity, uniqueness and versatility of the bicycle, and that it is an affordable, reliable, simple, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of Transport.
When it comes to our health, we often forget that the simplest of things would be the most beneficial, something like a bicycle that would not only be good for the environment but for us too.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic there will not be any huge public gatherings as there have been in the past 1 year where people have gathered for rallies.
Usually people would join others on a bicycle ride around town and hold other events that would involve bicycles. Since social distancing is going on, people can take go for rides on their own instead of taking ride in group. On the other side we appeal to the Lt. Governor of JK UT Manoj Sinha for the cycling lane so that cyclists feel safer while cycling.
