RAMBAN, JUNE 07: Department of Fisheries Ramban, has initiated the stocking of fish seed of Common Carp (Cyprinuscarpio) and Grass Carp (Ctenopharyngodan idella) in private fish ponds in the district.
As per the department, the stocking is done on an annual basis as per the demand of the private fish farmers to enhance the fish production.
The Carp Fish Farming is based on a multi-species culture system, varying from 2 to 6 species, subject to climatic conditions. Assistant Director Fisheries, Ramban, Fayaz Ahmed, said that besides, natural fish feed, supplementary feeding is also provided to achieve better growth. Efforts are being made by the Department to enhance the Fish production by establishing new raceways for Trout culture. During the year 2020-21, five raceways were established under PMMSY, he added.
