RPO Srinagar refutes reports of ACB raid at his office, says it was a routine visit
6/9/2021 12:25:33 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

Srinagar, June 8: Refuting reports that his office in this summer capital was raided by an Anti Corruption Bureau team on Monday, Regional Passport Officer (RPO), Srinagar, B B Nagar on Tuesday said the sleuths of ACB came to him office for a routine visit.
He further said that no documents were seized from his office, adding that some records were provided to ACB after a written application was given by them. “The ACB team visited our office on Monday. But, it was not a raid… it was a routine visit… so the reports about the raid are completely wrong. Even the ACB has not given any statement claiming that it was a raid. It was just a routine visit and nothing else,” Mr Nagar told UNI.
Asserting that his office has a transparent system which helps in mitigating the problems of the people at the shortest possible time, he said since he assumed the office, the time of getting a passport has been reduced many folds. “Since I assumed the charge of the office, I have made many changes to bring more transparency in the functioning of the passport office,” he said.
Nagar said the ACB team requested for some documents related to some cases. “The same was given to them after they gave a written application for the same. How does that in any way mean that the documents were seized… if an agency seizes documents, they don’t give written application… they confiscate. So, reports about documents have been seized is also incorrect,” he added.
He said his office was open even during COVID lockdown and thousands of passports were generated so that people don’t face any problem. “You talk to anyone who has visited this office and ask if his work was done without any problem… Despite a dedicated staff, I keep myself available throughout the day and anyone can meet me. I have went out of the way, within the ambit of law, to help people who were distressed, be it students or Haj and Umrah applicants,” he added.
