Keep unscrupulous elements away
6/15/2021 11:52:23 PM
Private ambulance operators and agents of private hospitals turning Government Medical College Hospital Jammu into a fertile ground to lure the patients is a cause of concern, which needs to be addressed on a war footing basis.
Patients, who visit the GMC Jammu, for treatment are already in distress, they need help and support. The hospital administration needs to assure them that they are in safe hands and need not worry, but unfortunately the agents of private institutions present in the hospital make them feel insecure and hoodwink them at the pretext of providing them with better healthcare facilities in private hospitals.
The GMC administration needs to take a serious note of it and ban the entry of agents into the hospital. The outbreak of COVID-19 has already broken the back of people and they are struggling to fight the pandemic. They need assurance and solace. The very presence of touts too within the hospital adds to the worries of patients and makes them feel insecure.
It’s unfortunate that the private ambulance operators who claim to be working for the charitable cause charge huge amounts from patients to shift them to other health facilities. If these ambulance operators work for trusts then why do they ask patients to shed the money? This needs to be enquired and the people involved in looting the poor patients need to be identified and punished according to the law of the land.
The administration of Government Medical College Jammu cannot turn a blind eye towards the events that are unfurling within the hospital. The administrators cannot pass the buck by saying that they cannot stop anyone from entering into the hospital. They will have to act and ensure that unscrupulous elements are kept at bay.
These are Covid times and people are worried. If they are told that facilities in the government hospitals are not upto the mark it will add to their worries and they would search for the places where they believe they can recover. Agents of private hospitals and laboratories are playing with the psychology of the patients and are misleading them.
People visiting the GMC Hospital Jammu need to bear in mind that there are some people who are out to encash the pandemic and they should not fall in their trap. But very importantly it’s the administration that has to act.
