Early Times Report

Jammu, June 17: Agitating poor villagers of Chak Janghi Sarkaar village of Samba district is a glaring example of the duplicity of J&K administration.
Woes of helpless villagers have authenticated the allegations that in J&K two yardsticks are applied in citizens. Those who are violators of law are given priorities and incentives while as law abiding citizens, especially people of Jammu, are facing wrath of arrogant administration.
Villagers of Chak Janghi Sarkaar village of Dayani Panchayat were demanded that they should be properly rehabilitated before displacing them from their native places but authorities appear to be not ready to these law-abiding villagers. Authorities are adamant to displace from their homes and hearths and to render them landless by acquiring their homes and agricultural land for Delhi-Katra Expressway Corridor without giving them any compensation.
Authorities claimed that they are the occupant of land which were allotted to them by the government nearly 60 years back on humanitarian ground. Now authorities are going to take back that land without giving even a single penny of compensation.
DDC member, Ramesh Chander, who was agitating with villagers, regretted that authorities were not dealing this case on humanitarian ground.
“We are earning our livelihood only from agriculture and we have no other source of income. Now authorities have decided to acquire our whole land including houses”, a villager said.
He said that decision of the authorities to acquire land would render over 60 families homeless and jobless. Villagers demand proper rehabilitation, alternative agricultural land.
Interestingly villagers of Dayani Panchayat are legal allotees but those who had illegally encroach land on the construction of AIIMS is going on were provided alternative land for homes and agricultural purposes.
It is known to everybody that forest land was illegally encroached by some people near Vijaypur. Instead of removing encroachment and start construction of AIIMS, authorities legitimized illegal the action of the encroachers and provided them land and houses in the nearby locality of AIIMS.
