GDC Kalakote completes second day of 4-day’s online workshop on Yoga

Kalakote, June 19: Govt Degree college Kalakote, successfully completed second day of four day online workshop on the theme, “ Yoga at home and Yoga with family”, organized by the Department of Physical Education in Collaboration with EBSB Club and Literary Club, to celebrate 7th International Yoga Day 2021, in Commemoration to Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
On the second day of the workshop ,the Resource Person Som Dev khajuria (Physical Education Master C/O DYSSO Udhampur) conducted a Yoga Session through an online platform and taught various asanas to the participants which included Suksham vyayam (whole body exercise) Surya namaskar (in 12 position) including: Standing Positions like, Vriksh asana, Garud asana, Trikon asana, and Sitting Positions like, Vakr asana Paschimotan asana, Akarna Dhanur asana also Spine Position, Uttanpad asana Sarvang asana, Halasana and in the end he taught Shavasana &Shanti Path. He also talked at length about the benefits of performing these asanas on regular basis.
Principal GDC Kalakote, Dr. Romesh kumar Gupta, all the faculty members of the College and the students took part in this Yoga Session and performed all these asanas along with the Resource Person.
After conducting the session, the Resource Person , Som Dev Khajuria interacted with the participants and emphasized on the fact that yoga regularize the function of different organs of our body including heart, lungs etc.
It is a best way of unwinding stress, anxiety and confusion. It clears mind, reduces the fears and balances body and soul. Saying this, he motivated all the participants to practice Yoga and to make it a part of their daily routine .
Also, speaking on the event through an online platform, Principal GDC Kalakote, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta said that yoga provides a retreat from a chaotic and busy life. He further added that the fundamental purpose of yoga is to foster harmony in the body, mind, and environment. Yoga professes a complete system of physical, mental, social, and spiritual development.
So we should incorporate yoga in our daily life and reap its benefits in all ways possible. At the end, Principal, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta appreciated all the participants for showing interest and participating in this workshop with such zeal. He also acknowledged the efforts of the organising committees for organising this workshop and also thanked the Resource Person, Mr. Som Dev khajuria for his cooperation. The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by Mr. Sudesh Kumar ( PTI) through an online platform .
