Jammu, June 20: GGM Science College in collaboration with Bhartiya Yoga Sansthan JK UT today conducted online Yoga workshop Practice Yoga: A gateway to health and happiness under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravinder Tickoo and guidance of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan practized many more asanas relevant in this present pandemic time.
The main aim was coordinating mind with body physical mental spiritual well being. The resource persons were Dinesh Nayyar, Keshav Sharma and Bireshwar Jamwal (BYS JK).
Keshav demonstrated various asanas to the young students Kapalbharti, Shoulder stretching, Surya namaskar, Vakrasana, Ardhmatasyendraasana, Padmasana, Vajraasana, Pavanmukhtasana, Bhujangasana, Shavasana, Trikonasana, Pranayam, Ushtasana, Padmasana etc.
The students performed every step in beautiful coordination. Dinesh emphasized on the importance of yoga. Yoga is a mind and body practice. Various styles of yoga combine physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation. Yoga asanas are various body postures ranging from a sitting asana to positions where you are required to recline, stand, twist, and balance your body. Asanas were followed by query session.
Do’s Always breathe via nose while doing any types of asanas. Wear comfortable loose clothes to allow your body to move freely while performing all yoga asanas.
Practice yogasana postures at least two hours before or after having your meals. Drink water to stay hydrated during yoga asanas.
Find a quiet and calm place to perform yoga asanas. Do warm-up before yoga asanas to avoid sudden strain on muscles.
Don’ts Do not overdo yoga asanas or asanas for back pain as it can put a strain on muscles and cause injury. Do not perform even simple yoga asanas fast or in a hurried manner. The program ended with vote of thanks by NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan.
