Weather pleasant as mercury remain below normal in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 26: Weather remained pleasant as mercury was below normal during the past 24 hours in the Kashmir valley, where isolated to scattered very light rain and thundershowers could occur on Sunday.
However, there was no relief for the people of Mirpora and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), a Met department spokesman said here Saturday evening.
He said though weather warning for isolated, thundershowers with 30 km to 40 km per hour gusty winds will end tonight, there could be isolated to scattered very light rain and thundershowers over Jammu and Kashmir divisions during the next 24 hours. During the subsequent two days there is possibility of isolated to very light rain and thundershowers, he said.
The summer capital, Srinagar, where majority people remained indoor due to week-end corona curfew since last evening, both maximum and minimum temperatures remained below normal, he said. He said the maximum temperature on Saturday was 27.5 degree, which was 3.1 degree below normal while the minimum temperature was 15.6 degree, 1.7 notches below normal. He said the sky would be partly to generally cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperature will be around 29 degree and 16 degree respectively during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, where light rain was received this morning.
World famous ski resort of Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, the maximum temperature was 15.4 degree lowest in the valley. It was 6.2 notches below normal while the minimum temperature was 6.5 degree, which was 4.9 notches below normal. The famed health resort of Pahalgam the maximum temperature was 23.2 degree, 2.8 degree below normal while the minimum temperature was 8.2 degree, 2.5 notches below normal.
He said Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the maximum temperature was 27.5 degree, 3.1 degree below normal while the minimum temperature was 15.6 degree, 2.1 degree below normal.
