Goofup ! JK Police ‘informs’ people about Pakistan calling for hartal in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 6: Even as the people of Kashmir looked unaware of any strike call given by anti-national elements, a series of tweets by the Jammu and Kashmir Police seem to have done that job of informing them unwantedly. While no newspaper had reported about any strike call given by the antinational elements to observe the “anniversary of killing” of any militant in July, the police made the details public. In a tweet, the JKP said, “As per family sources of SAS Geelani, the tweet is fake and issued by someone from Pakistan. Police is taking action against those who are circulating it to instigate violence. Case FIR under relevant sections of ULA (P)stands registered in Police station Budgam.” In some more tweets police released the picture of the poster attributed to Geelani and released from Pakistan. The poster had details of the so called protest calendar given by the anti-national elements sitting across the border. While making public the copy of the poster, the police requested the people not to pay heed to rumors. The security analysts said the police should not have given importance to such rumors nor made the poster public. “When no media had reported about any such strike call nor the people were discussing it, what was the need to make people aware about such development having taken place from Pakistan,” said a retired police official on the condition of anonymity. He said the police reaction to the Pakistani designs had given space to the anti-national sentiment in Kashmir. “Now even those who were unaware of any strike call are now aware about the content of the poster. What was the need to give undue importance to the issue,” he added. It is pertinent to mention that after the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the Valley has given up the anti-national tradition of observing strike calls. “Kashmir has said no to hartal politics so why to give undue importance to such designs of the enemy country? Let bygones be bygones,” said the former official.
