Act against black sheep
7/13/2021 11:54:33 PM
The recent decision of Jammu and Kashmir Government to terminate eleven terror- friendly employees, including two sons of Hizbul chief Syed Salahuddin, has been hailed by the nationalist people across the country. But the question that is being asked is how come were the sons of a man, who waged a war against India, employed as government servants? The black sheep, who misused their authority, need to be punished.
After J&K’s transition into a union territory many things that were under the carpet have come to fore. Like Salahuddin’s sons, many others with militant connections were provided government jobs by the Kashmir centric politicians, who remained at helm till 2018.
According to media reports investigating agencies have prepared a list of nearly 1000 government employees with separatist connections. They may also face the axe in coming days.
Steps being taken by the present dispensation led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha deserve kudos. What his predecessors couldn’t do during the past 30-years, he has done it within one year. The terror-friendly government employees have been identified and action has also been initiated against them. But the question which everyone is asking is would the people who provided them with the jobs be taken to task or they will be allowed to go scot free.
The politicians, who have helped the separatist elements to make inroads int the government departments, need to be made accountable. They have to explain why they were so soft towards the separatists and the militants, who were promoting bloodshed and terror in Jammu and Kashmir.
It’s an open secret that the banned Jamaat-e-Islami helped Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) win 2014 assembly elections by asking its cadres to vote for the party. After the PDP came into power it left no stone unturned to return the favour by providing government jobs to Jamaat activists and allowing them to carry on with their agenda of separatism and sedition. When Mehbooba Mufti was heading the erstwhile J&K state she announced general amnesty to 10,000 stone pelters and compelled the Centre to announce unilateral Ramadan ceasefire in 2018. One month truce provided a chance to the militants to regroup and reassemble and they carried out deadly attacks within that month.
Now, the time has changed J&K is no more a state, nor are the politicians with separatist leanings handling the affairs. New Delhi is managing the show and is managing it well. The J&K scenario is changing fast and is changing for the good.
