JMC demolishes illegal constructions

JAMMU, July 17: Jammu Municipal Corporation today started demolition drive against the unauthorized and illegal construction raised especially on Nallahs causing choking of Nallahs and overflowing of the same.
During recent monsoon, the incidence of over flowing of different nallahs occurred due to which water enter into houses causing loss to property and act swiftly on this, JMC demolished a shop which was constructed over a Nallah at Nai Basti, Jammu because of which the nallah was choked and causing problems to the residents of the area by the teams headed by Chief Enforcement Officer (C.E.O) Enforcement wing of the Jammu Municipal Corporation, and on the directions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation.
The Commissioner, JMC stated that JMC shall continue the drive against those constructions which have been raised over Nallahs, these constructions are responsible for overflowing as well as choking of the same, as due to constructions over nallahs the same could not be properly cleaned resulting into creating of flood like situations.
The Commissioner, JMC further appeal to the general public to refrain from raising illegal constructions and get building plans approved for commercial and residential purpose and raise building according to approved building plan, failing which action as warranted under Jammu and Kashmir Control of Building Operation Act,1988 and Jammu and Kashmir, Municipal Corporation Act,2000 will be taken against the violators including sealing and demolition of the illegal structures.
