Dir Horticulture visits Khour block

JAMMU, July 19: Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, KAS conducted a whirlwind tour of Khour block of district Jammu. During the tour he chaired one day farmers awareness camp and training programme on Canning and Preservation of fruits conducted by the Department.
More than 100 farmers including women entrepreneurs participated. The farmers were briefed about the various central and UT sponsored schemes of the department in detail and asked the people to come forward and capitalize on the incentives available under different schemes.
Moreover, women entrepreneurs learned the different methods of preserving the fruits and requested to conduct a one month training programme. Laying special emphasis on High Density Plantation, the Director Horticulture planted a sapling in the farmers field at Masyal, Khour and impressed upon farmers to adopt this scheme of the department in order to get high returns from small area and enhance their livelihood.
Later, he visited the Fruit Plant Nursery Pallanwala and asked the officers to start work immediately on different operations as per the DPR for the development of the nursery and production of true to type quality planting material.
He was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, Chief Canning Instructor Jammu, Deputy Director Planning Jammu and other officers of the department.
