Anti Corruption Bureau has sought the records from Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council to check the antecedents of employees who were appointed during the erstwhile PDP-BJP regime and other discrepancies that were committed.
Last month J&K Government had terminated eleven employees, including two sons of Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin, from the services after their involvement in terrorist related activities was established.
The process to act against the terror-friendly employees has already commenced. There were reports that the security agencies have prepared a list of nearly 1000 government employees, whose links with the terrorist have been established and an axe is likely to fall on them soon.
When Mehbooba Mufti was heading J&K, terrorists and their sympathizers used to call the shots. Mehbooba as Chief Minister of J&K announced general amnesty to 10,000 stone pelters. During her rule many activists of Jamaat-e-Islami were provided government jobs. She and her party went out of way to help the Jamaat cadres as they had voted for her party in 2014 assembly elections. After J&K’s transition into a Union Territory many skeletons have tumbled out. The misrule which J&K witnessed during her regime encouraged the separatists to dictate terms. The ACB has sought the records of the J&K Sports Council after it received several anonymous complaints about irregularities in construction works, purchases and the appointments that have been made in the past. After J&K’s transition into a union territory many government employees who used to be active on social media and used to comment on every move of the government have turned silent as they fear that they may lose their jobs. Ones who had direct links with the militants and the separatists are trying to save their skin but their records are being looked into. The message is clear that no one with the separatist leanings will be tolerated. To begin with, ACB has sought the records of the Sports Council. It seems in the coming days noose around other institutions would also be tightened. Things are changing fast and so is the situation. The government employees need to take their jobs seriously. Their activities are being monitored and if they don’t fall in the line they may end up losing their jobs. The anti-graft agencies are on the move and the ones who have committed wrongs in the past will be held accountable.
