Dogri Sanstha remembers veteran story writers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 22: Continuing its series of holding story reading sessions of those veteran writers, who are no more in this world, Dogri Sanstha Jammu organized an online programme. The stories of Dogri stalwart DC Prashant and master storyteller Chhatrapal were read by Vibha Dogra, daughter of DC Prashant and Suneela Sharma, a senior newsreader respectively. Both the stories ‘Jhumke’ and ‘Sapkanj’ are trendsetting stories, which added new dimensions to Dogri fiction. Both story readers did justice to the themes and moods of the stories by their masterful renditions. Welcoming participants and viewers Prof Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha shed light on the style and craftsmanship of both veteran writers. He said while DC Prashant was one of the earliest short story writers in Dogri, Chhatrapal belonged to the modern era. Audiences in the programme realized how much Dogri fiction has evolved over a period of five decades. DC Prashant’s story depicts social values and customs of old Dogra society whereas Chhatrapal’s story portrays the modern sensibility and the present social scenario. Gauging online comments of viewers, it was obvious that both the stories were immensely liked by the viewers and touched their hearts. Prof Veena Gupta, Vice-President Dogri Sanstha while thanking the participants and viewers, spoke extensively about the distinctive qualities of the stories and their importance in Dogri literature. The technical support to the programme was provided by Pawan Verma. |
