KVK Reasi imparts training to farmers on entrepreneurship development

JAMMU, July 24: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organized farmers training programme on " Entrepreneurship development in agriculture for rural development" today through virtual mode which was enthuastically attended by a number of farmers of Kainthi village in Arnas block of Reasi distt.of J&K with full zeal and interest. The programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Director Extension of SKUAST-J, Dr SK Gupta, Sr. Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr Banarsi Lal initiated the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. Major objective of the programme was to trigger the mind of trainees towards entrepreneurship development in agriculture. While briefing the participants he said that there is need to stress on commercial farming so as to enhance the income and employment among the farmers even during the COVID-19 pandemic. He spoke at length on agri-entrepreneurship and narrated that farmers should adopt the new technologies in agriculture so that their crops production and productivity can be increased.
He highlighted the eco-friendly agricultural technologies for sustainable agriculture. He narrated that focus should be given on the eco-friendly formulations which can be easily formulated in the villages with the minimum expenses. He discussed in length on Atma Nirbhar Bharat and urged farmers to be part of this campaign. Anil Thakur, Agriculture Extension Officer, Deptt of Agriculture, Reasi elaborated the various agricultural schemes/programmes undergoing in the district. He added that hilly areas have immense potential in organic fruits and vegetables and farmers can fetch more money by growing the organic fruits and vegetables. During the training programme many quarries were raised by the trainees which were answered by the experts in a very satisfactorily way. The programme was concluded by Dr Banarsi Lal with formal vote of thanks.
