Initiative Vrikshavan: 10,000 plants to be planted at various locations

Jammu, July 25: FICCI FLO Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Chapter started their plantation drive under their initiative Vrikshavan, to promote environmental awareness through greening initiatives across the city. The programme was organized under the Chairpersonship of Kunwarani Ritu Singh. A road map for the same has been formulated to sustain and maintain this plantation drive of over 10,000 plants across various locations. FICCI FLO JK&L is most grateful for the assistance from Jammu Municipal Corporation, The Bahu Plaza Association and The Urban Forestry Division Jammu. The Plantation drive started from Bahu Plaza and moved on to Shivaji Chowk, B.R. Ambedkar Chowk, Maharaja Hari Singh park near Bahu Fort and culminated at Balidan Chowk park Qausim Nagar. The plantation drive started with chanting of the Ganesh and Durga mantras to invoke the blessings of the divine. This initiative not only promotes the beautification and greening of the city, but is being planned in a systematic and phased manner promoting a message of not just loving nature but also working towards nurturing and sustaining it. Keeping the covid protocol in place the drive was attended by EC Committee of FICCI FLO JK&L Kr. Ritu Singh, Founding Chairperson, Varuna Anand, Sr. Vice Chairperson, Esher William, Vice Chairperson, Ritika Trehan Executive Secretary, Ruchika Gupta, Treasurer and members from the Vrikshavan committee Mona Saraf, Neetu Bali & Aditi Chopra Puri, Mr. Anil Gupta, President Bahu plaza Association and representatives from Jammu Municipal corporation, and DFO Sunil Singh Manhas, Range officer Shakil Ahmed and block officer Parveen Singh from The Urban Forestry Division Jammu.
