PHSC chairman directs PHE officials to address water scarcity issue | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 31: Chairman Public Health and Sanitation Committee (PHSC) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Narinder Singh Jamwal, chaired the monthly Standing Committee meeting of Public Health and Sanitation Committee to discuss water crisis issues faced in some areas of Jammu. Officials of JMC and Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department were also present in the meeting. Various problems and issues related to water supply were discussed and deliberated upon at length during the meeting to address the problems at the earliest. Chairman PHSC directed the PHE officials to fix the leakages in all wards of JMC on priority and war footing basis. Besides, a new proposal for resolving water scarcity in Jammu was submitted during the meeting. Jamwal said that if there is need of more tube wells or change of any old water supply pipeline or any other necessary work the same should be done immediately to relieve the people of the affected areas of the woes confronted by them on account of water scarcity. He assured those present in the meeting that the issue of funds being significant in this direction, will be resolved soon by taking up this matter with the concerned higher ups. The PHE officials attending the meeting assured the PHSC Chairman that they would soon fix the leakage points in the concerned areas and ensure that people do not face any problem pertaining to drinking water supply. Another issue that came up for discussion during the meeting was the roaming of stray animals on roads that has been a cause of concern for the people across the City of Temples. In this regard, the Chairman has also directed the Municipal Veterinary Officer of JMC to lift all the stray animals roaming on Jammu roads and keep them at the cattle compound of JMC. |
