JAMMU, July 31: Tawi Darshan, which has its religious leanings with Suryaputri, is being celebrated at village Shallu Dudu of Udhampur District. Tawi river, considered to be pious by Hindu devotees, flows from all the way from Kapilas Kund in Udhampur District to Jammu and onwards merges with confluence of rivers with Chanderbagha and onwards rivers of Jhelum & Sind in POK. Cultural Organization PEACE which conceived the idea of Tawi Darshan in 2019 organized this Annual event whereas Directorate of Tourism, Jammu sponsored this festival. Director Tourism, Jammu, Vivekanand Rai was chief guest on this occasion where as CEO, Patnitop Development Authority, Sher Singh, Joint Director Tourism, Natasha Kalsotra, SDM Dudu, Pradip Singh Chib, Dr Umesh Shan BDO Dudu, Roohi Khajuri, Sarpanch Dev Raj Bhagat and other were also present on this occasion. Director Tourism inaugurated the festival and along with other guests performed abhishek and Puja of Suryaputri amidst chanting of Vedic shalokas by Sanskrit scholars. Cultural items were also presented by folk groups of District Udhampur. Later an oath was also taken by the participants to save water and cleanliness of river Suryaputri. |
