Ex Dy CM Tarachand asks BJP Govt to restore statehood to J&K
8/5/2021 11:03:17 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 5: Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Tarachand today said that the Prime Minister had promised the people of Jammu and kashmir on the floor of the parliament that he would return full statehood to the J&K and he should fulfil his promise as soon as possible. Addressing public meeting in Tilak Palace of Akhnoor Constituency today, Tarachand said that people of J&K feel betrayed by the downgrading of the historic state and deprived of the rights to land and jobs. He said that Congress party would intensify struggle for the restoration of statehood with protection to jobs and lands for the locals of J&K. He said that lust for power could lead the BJP to compromise with the Jammu pride and dignity. He accused the BJP of undermining the understanding and political sagacity of the people of Jammu. Tarachand lambasted the BJP Govt. for charging huge taxes on the petroleum products and its failure to check the prices of all commodities of common use including eatables, edible oils, fertilizers, agriculture appliances and others things. While in opposition, the BJP leaders would raise and agitate for any fraction of increase in prices of petrol, diesel and gas and other commodities but in power they are charging huge taxes and justifying the increase in prices. He lashed out at the BJP Govt. led by Shri Modi for the tax loot and burdening the common man with unchecked prices of all commodities and the record rates of petrol, diesel and gas. He said that the rates of petrol, diesel and gas have gone sky high and petrol has crossed Rs.100/- per liter. He questioned that the same BJP and its leaders who were very concerned about the prices of petroleum products when the UPA Govt. was in power and the rates of crude oil in the international market were touching sky but today when the rates of the crude oil are less than half of the rates of the UPA time, why the petrol and diesel is one and half time more than UPA Govt. It is because of the increase in the taxes by the Centre that the rates are so high. He accused the Modi Govt. of forcing the people to pay from their nose when the economy is already very lowest level in the country. He said that BJP and Modi Govt. does not bother of the hardships and the economic distress being faced by the common people during the worst period.
