Mayor unfurls "Tiranga" at Ware House | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 5: Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor of Jammu on Thursday hoisted the Tiranga with full honour at Ware House in a function organized by Traders Federation Ware House Nehru Market Jammu. Federation celebrated 2nd Anniversary of Article 370 abrogation as "Ekatamata Diwas" and after the flag hosting, Halwa Prasad was also distributed amongst the workers of Ware House-Nehru Market by Mayor and office bearers of Federation. Honb'le Mayor Sh. Chander Mohan Gupta on this occasion said that to mark two years of the historic abrogation of Article 370 and 35(A) from the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, celebrations are going on all over the nation. Particularly, in Jammu and Kashmir, this day holds even greater significance and consequently, is being celebrated with an even greater zeal. At various points across the UT, people are enthusiastically celebrating to commemorate two years of the government's historic decision that changed their lives in an unprecedented and positive manner. "It is the abrogation of Article 370 and 35(A) which has ensured that the fruits of the UT's development also reaches to the Valmiki Community and West Pakistan Refugees, which had earlier been deprived of the benefits of progress because of the selfish political motives of some families that previously ruled Jammu and Kashmir." Mayor said. Deepak Gupta, President of the Federation on this occasion said that one of the most significant achievements in the post-Article 370 times has been that the divisive and terrorist forces have been dealt a big blow following which an atmosphere of development and progress has built in the region giving people new hope. Deepak Gupta said that there is no doubt that the traders of Jammu have suffered a lot in these two years due to the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A. Liquor vendors of Jammu lost their shops and business. Mining contracts went to contractors from outside the states and our brick kilns became useless due to the arrival of bricks from Punjab. "Despite all these losses, we welcome the abrogation of 370, but at the same time will appeal to the Central Government and the administration of Jammu and Kashmir to formulate a concrete policy to protect the small traders of Jammu." Deepak Gupta said.
