JAMMU, Aug 5: Science Club Committee of Government Degree College R.S. Pura organized an online seminar on the topic "Plastic Waste Management in Jammu City".
The resource person for the event was Sanjeev Arora, CEO, Regional and urban development Agency. The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Prof. Bindu Kumari from Department of Botany and the welcome address was presented by Dr. Preetpal Kour. Sanjeev Arora started his lecture by giving the background of excessive use of plastic in our daily life and how it affects the human health and ultimately leads to environment pollution. He made aware the participants attending webinar regarding the plastic waste management model in rural and urban areas of Jammu city that comprises of four components viz, socio-technical model for developing economically sustainable approach in plastic waste recycling management system, installation and institutionalization of swacchta Kendra and knowledge management to sensitize citizens about plastic waste recycling ecosystem.
Principal of the college, Dr. G.S. Rakwal highlighted the importance of plastic waste management and urged the participants to actively participate in curbing the plastic menace. A number of students and faculty members of different colleges also actively participated in the webinar. Prof. Balwinder kour delivered a vote of thanks to all for making the webinar such a success. |
