No other choice but to resist to exist when unbridled oppression is unleashed: Mehbooba | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 5: Claiming that no words or pictures are enough to depict the pain, torment and upheaval inflicted upon J&K on this black day two years ago, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said that when 'unbridled oppression is unleashed and gross injustice heaped there is no other choice but to resist to exist'. Mehbooba, who is the president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made these remarks on the second anniversary of abrogation of special status of erstwhile state of J&K on this day in 2019. "No words or pictures are enough to depict the pain, torment & upheaval inflicted upon J&K on this black day two years ago. When unbridled oppression is unleashed & gross injustice heaped there is no other choice but to resist to exist," Ms Mehbooba, who is also the vice chairperson of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PADG), said. Mehbooba alleged that August 5 is a day of mourning for J&K. "BJP government started oppression, barbarism in 2019 and unfortunately it is celebrating while Kashmir is mourning," she added. The PDP president said that the people of J&K and her party will resist. The centre on August 5, 2019 abrogated Article 370 and Article 35 A, besides divided the erstwhile state into two Union Territories (UTs) - J&K and Ladakh. Hundreds of politicians, including three former chief ministers - Omar Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti - activities and separatist leaders were placed under preventive detention and later booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) for several months. |
