Rajouri, Aug 5: Field Outreach Bureau, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, Rajouri in collaboration with Press Information Bureau, Jammu organised a webinar on “Importance of Breastfeeding for lactating mothers and babies” today.
This Webinar was part of observance of “World Breastfeeding Week”. The webinar was presided over by Vinod Kumar Behnal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sunderbani Vinod Kumar Behnal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sunderbani in his address said thatthe World Breastfeeding week is observed from 1st of August to 7th of August every year with a motive to generate awareness about benefits of mother’s milk for both mothers and babies. The slogan of this year’s world breastfeeding week "Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility” is being promoted through various social media platforms. He urged the participants to spread the message of breastfeeding in every nook and corner of Tehsil Sunderbani so that this practice becomes more popular which is ultimately a boon to good health of babies as well as lactating mothers. He was of the view that such type of awareness programmes through Social media platformsis very essential and beneficial owing to Covid pandemic.He also extended his gratitude to FOB, Rajouri and PIB, Jammu for organising such awareness webinars from time to time on various other subjects.
Dr. Sonali Khajuria, Pathologist who acted as resource person delivered key note address on various aspects and importance of Breastfeeding. She provided a detailed and threadbare lecture on Breastfeeding- a boon to good health for both lactating mothers and babies.
During her address, she said that breastfeeding is always a safe, easy and a natural practice. She was of the view that even a mother being Covid-19 positive can breastfeed safely taking covid precautions and keeping hygienic conditions Dr. Meenu Sharma, Medical Officer, Sub District Hospital also interacted with participants. Among others Shri Sheikh Mudasir Amin, Media & Communication Officer, PIB, Jammu, Shri Syed Adil Andrabi, Field Exhibition Officer, ROB, Jammu, Shri Rajesh Sharma, I/C FOB, Doda, Shri Vijay Mattoo, I/C FOB, Kathua, Shri Mohammad Iqbal Khan, I/C FOB, Srinagar, Romesh Kumar, Health Educator/ Block ASHA Coordinator, Shri Suresh Kumar, Supervisor, ICDS, Sunderbani were present.
